As in the example, the environment surrounding power plants is controlled stringently through cooperation between the power plant, the related municipality, and companies in the area. So far, no accidents of any significance have occurred.

* Monitoring station and post: Continuous measurement of radioactivity in the air
* Monitoring point: Measurement of total dosage for a certain period of time

The radioactivity dosage on people living near the power plants is less than 0.001mSv per year. This value is much lower than the 1mSv per year statutory dosage limit, and lower also than 0.05mSv, the target set by the Nuclear Safety Commission.
