Suspend increasing output of Sendai Nuclear Power Unit No.1

We hereby announce that as of today, the alarm on a condensate pump of secondary system, containing none of radioactive material, has activated at Sendai Nuclear Power Unit No.1 at 14:19 August 20th, while conducting the adjustment operation with 75% output which has restarted generating electricity on August 14th.

As a result of an investigation of associated equipments and water quality, it is assumed that seawater would be mixed into the condenser and eliminated by a condensate demineralizer, so there is no problem continuing the operation.

We have made a decision that it should be suspended increasing output, which had been planning at today, and it is needed to check the plant carefully with 75% output for ensuring the stable operation.

There is no effect of radiation to the environment on this matter.

We will carefully continue to carry out each process, putting utmost priority to safety.
