Application for the permission for a change in reactor installation license regarding efforts to improve safety and reliability of Sendai Nuclear Power Station No.1,2

We applied for the permission for a change in reactor installation license to Nuclear Regulatory Authority (NRA) on December 17, 2015, regarding the installation of facilities for dealing with specific accident and the permanent direct current power equipment, the change of the emergency response center and the receiving electricity system, which are efforts to improve safety and reliability of Sendai Nuclear Power Station No.1,2.

(Already announced)

We have considered a broad range of effective measures in terms of improving safety regarding the change of the emergency response center as we received indication from NRA.
As a result, we decided the installation of 'Emergency Response Building' adopting an earthquake-resistant construction and submitted the new application for the permission for a change in reactor installation license, including the installation of the permanent direct current power equipment and the change of the receiving electricity system, to NRA today.

At the same time, we submitted amendment which changes the contents of application, applied in December 2015, including only the installation of facilities for dealing with specific accident to NRA.

Along with this application, we also conducted procedures for the preliminary consultation with Kagoshima prefecture and Satsumasendai city based on the safety agreement.

To be worthy of peace of mind of our stakeholders, we will ensure the safety of Nuclear Power Stations and strive to explain about our efforts respectfully.
