We applied for the permission for a change in reactor installation license to Nuclear Regulatory Authority (NRA) regarding installation of Specific Safety Facilities (SSFs) of Genkai Nuclear Power Station No.3 and 4, today.

　SSFs, required in the new regulatory standard, are buildings with separation distance from the buildings around the reactor or quite sturdy buildings, storing facilities with function of preventing damage of the containment vessel, in preparation for the loss of the cooling functions and subsequent significant damage of the reactor due to terrorism including deliberate collision of a large airplane toward the buildings around the reactor.

　We also submitted the request for prior agreement regarding that application to Saga prefecture and Genkaki town based on the safety agreement.

　We will respond to the inspection by NRA sincerely and politely, and continue to make best efforts to improve safety and reliability of our nuclear power stations.
