Carrying Out Environmental Education

Under the slogan, “Creating the Future with Humans and Nature“, the Kyuden Group offers an educational program designed for children of various ages to learn about the necessity of environmental protection.
Specially trained “Eco-Mothers” visit kindergartens and nursery schools, using story boards and puppet shows to communicate the importance of protecting the environment.

Kyuden Group employees visit schools, where they use experiments and quizzes, to teach students about power generation mechanisms and the importance of environmental protection.

In addition, we hold events out in nature where children can learn about the current state of global warming, and the role that forests play in protecting the environment through hands-on experiences such as making wooden crafts, observing nature and climbing trees.

Conserving the Natural Environment

In order to sustain the bountiful nature of Kyushu well in to the future, Kyuden Group is collaborating with local communities around Kyushu to work on environmental conservation.

For 15 years, from 2001 to 2015, we worked with 642 local communities around Kyushu to plant 1,170,000 trees. As the trees grew and spread their roots, water retention and air purification capabilities were recovered.

Establishing the Kyuden Mirai Foundation

In order to make better contributions towards solving local issues, the Kyuden Mirai Foundation was established in 2016.This foundation makes use of our company-owned forests to carry out original educational activities aimed at environmental protection.

From forestry experiences on our privately held land to making crafts from fallen wood, we teach children about global warming and the role that forests play in mitigating it. In this way we hope to encourage young minds that care for the environment.

Since 2000, we have been exterminating alien species and burning fields to protect the environment of Bogatsuru Moor, a Ramsar Site wetland in Oita Prefecture. Our steady efforts have come to fruition, and the once devastated wasteland has returned to its original beauty.
