Kyuden Group to participate in Gas-Fired Power Generation Project in Uzbekistan -Our first power project in Central Asia-

Kyuden International Corporation, a member of the Kyuden Group, has participated in a gasfired power generation project in Uzbekistan in Central Asia together with EDF (Électricité de France), Nebras Power and Sojitz Corporation.

The project involves the construction of a new natural gas-fired power generation facility with a total output of approx. 1,600MW (equity output of approx. 230MW) in Uzbekistan's Syrdarya region to generate and supply electricity under a power purchase agreement for a period of 25years. The new Syrdarya thermal power plant is part of the country's overall strategy to replace outdated power generation facilities with high-efficiency gas-fired plants, and will help Uzbekistan to achieve its target to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

This project is the Kyuden Group's first power project in Central Asia, and with this participation, the equity output of the overseas power generation business amounts to approx. 2,910MW(*1).

(*1) this output includes both projects that are awaiting or have started commercial operation

The Kyuden Group will continue to develop power projects by leveraging advanced technological capabilities and wealth of experience with the aim of achieving the equity output target of 5,000MW for overseas power generation projects by 2030.
