Kyuden International Forms Capital and Business Alliance with U.S.-based TeraWatt Technology - Collaboration in Advanced Battery Storage -

Kyuden International Corporation (KIC), a member of the Kyuden Group, has invested in TeraWatt Technology Inc., a U.S.-based startup specialized in the development and manufacturing of next‑generation lithium‑ion batteries. In addition, the two companies have entered into a memorandum of understanding to pursue future collaboration. As the adoption of renewable energy accelerates and power infrastructure becomes increasingly sophisticated, energy storage batteries are increasingly recognized as a critical component of modern energy systems. At the same time, the industry continues to face the challenge of achieving high performance, safety, and cost competitiveness simultaneously.

TeraWatt is developing batteries that are lightweight, high‑power, and highly safe, while also being designed for cost‑competitive mass production. The company aims to deploy its batteries across a wide range of applications, including unmanned aerial vehicles such as drones, various mobility solutions including electric vehicles, and stationary energy storage systems. Leveraging TeraWatt’s technological and manufacturing expertise, KIC will promote collaboration that builds on the strengths of both parties, with a view toward jointly exploring battery‑related businesses opportunities and expanding operations from Japan to global markets.

Leveraging its global experience in developing energy businesses, as well as the Kyuden Group’s accumulated technological capabilities and know-how, KIC will continue to contribute to the realization of a sustainable society through collaboration with highly innovative startup companies.
