Fukuoka High Court Rejects the Petition to Halt Genkai Nuclear Power Station Units 3 and 4 (Filed in FY2017) -Ruling in favor of Kyushu Electric Power-

The Fukuoka High Court rejected an appeal filed with the Court on April 3, 2018 against a ruling in favor of Kyushu Electric Power issued by the Saga District Court on March 20, 2018 that denied an injunction to halt the operation of Genkai Nuclear Power Station Units 3 and 4.

Kyushu Electric Power has sought for the dismissal of the appeal, arguing that the Genkai Nuclear Power Station is adequately secure against earthquakes and volcano eruptions and that appropriate safety prevention measures and accident countermeasures have been implemented.

The Fukuoka High Court rejected the plaintiff's claims on the grounds that the Genkai Nuclear Power Station does not face specific dangers that could trigger severe accidents.
Kyushu Electric Power considers this decision to be reasonable, reflecting our argument that the safety of Genkai Nuclear Power Station Units 3 and 4 has been secured.

We will continue to voluntarily and continuously implement initiatives to further increase safety and reliability and to take all possible measures to secure the safety of the nuclear power station.
