Changes to the Sendai Nuclear Power Station Units 1 and 2 Operation Plans

Today, Kyushu Electric filed an application to make changes in operation plans to the Nuclear Regulation Authority pursuant to the Nuclear Reactor Regulation Law. Kyushu Electric intends to change the operation plan for Units 1 and 2 of Sendai Nuclear Power Station, stopping Unit 1 on March 16 and Unit 2 on May 20, 2020 to conduct outage inspections.

Permanent Direct Current Power Facilities (third system) installment, Reactor Safety Protective Panel replacement, and Specific Safety Facilities installment will be conducted during this outage inspections.

Putting safety above all else, we will approach each inspection and project carefully in this outage inspections and do our utmost to secure the safe and stable operation of the station going forward.

They have a function to prevent damages of containment vessel. They are preparation in case cooling functions for nuclear reactor stop and a reactor core gets fatal damages due to terrorism such like an intentional collision of jumbo airplane toward a reactor support building.
