Notice of Hearing from the Japan Fair Trade Commission

 On July 13, 2021, the Japan Fair Trade Commission conducted on-site inspections of Kyushu Electric Power Co., Inc. and its subsidiary Kyuden Mirai Energy Corporation on suspicion of violating the “Act on Prohibition of Private Monopolization and Maintenance of Fair Trade (Anti-Monopoly Act)” in the high voltage power and extra-high voltage power segment. While we have been fully cooperating with the investigations conducted by JFTC since the on-site inspection, Kyushu Electric Power Co., received today from JFTC a notice of hearing regarding a cease and desist order (draft) and a surcharge payment order (draft) in accordance with the Anti-Monopoly Act. Also, Kyuden Mirai Energy Corporation has received a notice of hearing regarding a cease and desist order (draft).

 Kyushu Electric Power Co., Inc. and Kyuden Mirai Energy Corporation treat this notice with great seriousness and will review and confirm the details of the notice. After receiving explanations of the evidence and other relevant information from JFTC, we will carefully consider our response.

 We would like to express our sincere apologies to our customers and all other stakeholders for any concerns this matter may have caused.

 The impact on our business performance will be disclosed, after having carefully examined the situation and as soon as there is a clear outlook available.
