Kyushu Electric Power Co., Inc.
Kyushu Electric Power Named to Dow Jones Sustainability Asia/Pacific Index for the First Time - Selected as the only electric power company in Japan -
We are pleased to announce that our company has been named for the first time to the Dow Jones Sustainability Asia / Pacific Index (DJSI Asia/Pacific Index), one of the world’s leading ESG investment indices.
DJSI, provided by S&P Dow Jones Indices, is a prominent ESG investment index that evaluates the sustainability performance of major companies worldwide using environmental, social and governance (ESG) criteria, and each year it selects companies that excel overall.
Among approximately 600 companies in the Asia-Pacific region, our company, along with 161 other companies (including 78 Japanese companies) has been recognized by the DJSI Asia Pacific this year. In the Japanese domestic power sector, our company is the only one selected.
In making this selection, we received particularly high marks for its environmental and social aspects, including its climate strategy, biodiversity, and human rights.
In addition to being selected for the 2024 DJSI Asia Pacific, our company has also been included in four of the six ESG indices adopted by the Government Pension Investment Fund (GPIF), such as the FTSE Blossom Japan Sector Relative Index and the MSCI Japan ESG Select Leaders Index.
Under the brand message of creating a brighter future, the Kyuden Group will continue to create both social value and economic value through our business activities, contributing to a sustainable society while enhancing the corporate value of the Kyuden Group.
