Mexico: Tuxpan V Project Commencement of Operation
|
Kyushu Electric Power Company Inc., has built a power station with a capacity of 495,000 kW output in Tuxpan District, Veracruz, Mexico, together with Mitsubishi Corporation. On September 1 st , 2006 local time, the power station started its operation. Tuxpan V Project adapts a natural gas combined cycle power generation facility using natural gas fuel supplied by PEMEX, the Mexican national oil company, under a 25 years supply contract with Comission Federal de Electricidad (CFE). During the construction, Kyushu Electric sent up to 12 engineers to support and supervise the power plant construction works. Those engineers will develop the project and support operation and maintenance of the power plant from now on in cooperation with Mitsubishi Corporation. This power plant locates next to Tuxpan Ⅱ , which started operation in December 2001 with comparable capacity with Tuxpan V. Now that the combined capacity of these two power plants is approximately 1 million kW, we will restructure redundant business activities among these two power plants to raise the efficiency. This project is the forth overseas IPP project of Kyushu Electric Power Company, following Tuxpan Ⅱ , Ilihan project in Philippines (started in June 2002), and Phu My Ⅲ in Vietnam (started in March 2004).
