Chairperson
Michiaki Uriu is the Chairperson of Kyushu Electric Power's Board of Directors. He entered Kyushu Electric Power in 1975, after graduating from Osaka University with a master's degree in industrial mechanical engineering. He built his career through working in the Thermal Power Division, the Corporate Planning Division and the Environmental Division. He was involved in many key projects in the Thermal Power Division, such as the planning of the LNG-fueled Shin Oita Power Station and overseas IPP business. After being appointed President in 2012, he took command during the most difficult period in the company's history. In a period of electricity market reforms and rate revisions, he ensured that safety measures were implemented successfully to restart Kyushu's nuclear power stations. Mr. Uriu took up his current post on the Board of Directors in 2018.
President and CEO
Kazuhiro Ikebe is the President and CEO of Kyushu Electric Power's Board of Directors.
After graduating from the University of Tokyo Faculty of Law in 1981, he joined Kyushu Electric Power the same year. In 1987, Mr. Ikebe broadened his horizons by studying at the University of Washington in Seattle for three years. While spending much of his career in the Corporate Planning Division, he was also involved in Power Generation, Human Resources, and General Affairs, as well as spending time as secretary to the President. He became General Manager of the Power Generation Division in 2012, where he contributed to restarting Kyushu Electric Power's nuclear power stations. He then served as General Manager of the Corporate Planning Division in 2014 and as Deputy Director of the Board of Directors' Management Strategy Division in 2016, when he helped to formulate management strategies. Following his term as Senior Managing Executive Officer and Executive Director of the Corporate Strategy Division in 2017, Mr. Ikebe was appointed President and CEO of the Board of Directors in 2018.
Mr. Ikebe also worked on common matters of electric industry in Japan such as Carbon Neutrality and Energy Security as the chairperson of Federation of Electric Power Companies from March 2020 to March 2024.
Vice-Presidential Executive Officer
Noboru Hashimoto is a Vice-Presidential Executive Officer of Kyushu Electric Power's Board of Directors. He graduated from Kyushu University Faculty of Economics in 1984 and joined Kyushu Electric Power in the same year. After joining the company, he built his career in labor affairs, general affairs, honorary advisor’s secretary and administration planning, and most recently he led many projects in urban development as the growing business field. As a branch manager, he has also gained experience in managing regional relations. After serving as General Manager of District Symbiosis Division (General Affairs) in 2015, he became an Executive Officer when he assumed the post of General Manager of the Kumamoto Branch Office in 2017, becoming Managing Executive Officer and Director of Urban Development Division in 2020 (promoted to Senior Managing Executive Officer in 2022). Mr. Hashimoto took up the post of Vice-Presidential Executive Officer of the Board of Directors and Executive Director of the Business Solutions Headquarters in 2023.
Vice-Presidential Executive Officer
Atsushi Soda is a Vice-Presidential Executive Officer of Kyushu Electric Power's Board of Directors. He entered the company in 1985, upon completion of his master's degree in electrical engineering at Nagasaki University. After joining the company, he built his career in transmission system operation and corporate planning, he also acquired experience providing regional support as a General Manager. Furthermore, he served twice in the Federation of Electric Power Companies of Japan (FEPC). Thanks to this experience, Mr. Soda has a deep knowledge of the electric power industry, both within and beyond Japan. In 2016, he became General Manager of the Administration Planning Division (Management Planning), in 2017 General Manager of the Corporate Strategy Division (Group Management Planning). When he became General Manager of the Oita Branch Office in 2018, he was named Executive Officer. After serving as Senior Managing Director of the Federation of Electric Power Companies (promoted to Managing Officer in June 2020, and Senior Managing Executive Officer in 2022), and in 2023 he was appointed as Vice-Presidential Executive Officer on the Board of Directors in 2023, and as well as Crisis Management Officer and ESG matters.
Senior Managing Executive Officer
Yoshiharu Senda is a Senior Managing Executive Officer of Kyushu Electric Power's Board of Directors. In 1984 after completing his graduate studies (Civil Engineering) at Kyoto University. After joining the company, he built up his career in the Civil Engineering Division and the Environmental Division.
In 2014, he was appointed General Manager of the District Symbiosis Division (Crisis Management); in 2016, General Manager of the District Symbiosis Division (Crisis Management) and General Manager of the President's Office (Corporate Policy); in 2017, Executive Officer and Deputy Director of the District Symbiosis Division; in 2018, Executive Officer and Director of the Civil Engineering and Building Division; in 2019, Senior Executive Officer and Director of the Civil Engineering and Building Division; in 2020, Senior Managing Executive Officer and Executive Director of the Technical Solution Headquarters; and in 2022, Senior Managing Executive Officer and Executive Director of the Technical Solution Headquarters and become a menber of the Board of Directors.
Senior Managing Executive Officer
Takashi Nakano is a Senior Managing Executive Officer of Kyushu Electric Power's Board of Directors. After graduating from the Faculty of Law at Seinan Gakuin University in 1985, he joined Kyushu Electric Power in the same year. After joining the company, he built his career in human resources, public relations, corporate planning, and business administration, and he is currently in charge of accounting, financial affairs, administration of property, and material procurement. Mr. Nakano also has experience providing regional support as a Branch General Manager. In 2015, he became General Manager of the Administration Planning Division (Organizational Strategy), in 2017 Director of the Corporate Strategy Division (Energy Strategy), in 2018 General Manager of the Kagoshima Branch Office. He was named Managing Executive Officer of the Operating Division, Business Solution Headquarters in 2021 (promoted to Senior Managing Executive Officer in 2022), and assumed his post as a Member of the Board of Directors in 2023.
Senior Managing Executive Officer
Masaru Nishiyama is a Senior Managing Executive Officer of Kyushu Electric Power's Board of Directors. After graduating from the University of Tokyo Faculty of Economics in 1986, he joined Kyushu Electric Power in the same year. After joining the company, he built his career in corporate planning, president’s secretary and business administration. Most recently Mr. Nishiyama led many projects in the overseas business as growing field. In 2016, he became General Manager of the Business Administration Division, General Manager of the Corporate Strategy Division (Group Management Strategy) in 2017, Executive Officer and General Manager of the International Business Office in 2019. He was named Managing Executive Officer of the Corporate Strategy Division in 2021 (promoted to Senior Managing Executive Officer in 2022), he was appointed Vice-Presidential Executive Officer of Energy Service Business Headquarters in 2023.
Senior Managing Executive Officer
Michio Hayashida is a Senior Managing Executive Officer of Kyushu Electric Power's Board of Directors. He entered the company in 1985, upon completion of his master‘s degree in energy conversion engineering at Kyushu University. Through his involvement in the Nuclear Power Division, both at Kyushu Electric Power’s Headquarters and on-site at their nuclear power stations, he has acquired expertise in their operations and quality control management. After serving as General Manager of the Nuclear Power Division (2015), he became a Deputy Director of the Siting Affairs & Communication Divisions in 2018. In the same year he named Head of Genkai nuclear Construction Arrangement Office and had taken command in managing regional relations for three years. He became Managing Executive Officer when he was named Deputy Director of the Nuclear Power Division in 2021 (promoted to Senior Managing Executive Officer in 2022). He was named Director of the Nuclear Power Division and appointed his post as a Member of the Board of Directors in 2024.
External Member
Sakie Tachibana Fukushima is an External Member of Kyushu Electric Power's Board of Directors. With an MBA earned at Stanford University in 1987, Ms. Tachibana Fukushima served as the US Director of Korn Ferry International in 1995, assuming the Presidency of Japan Korn Ferry International, Inc. in 2001, becoming the Chairperson in 2009. From 2010, she has acted as President and Representative Director of S&G Global Advisors, Inc.
Ms. Tachibana Fukushima has been serving as an External Member of Kyushu Electric Power's Board of Directors since 2020.
External Member
Yuji Hirako is an External Member of Kyushu Electric Power‘s Board of Directors. He graduated from Tokyo University with a Degree in Economics in 1981 and joined All Nippon Airways Co. Ltd. (ANA) the same year. After serving as an Executive Officer in charge of Marketing and Sales in 2011, Mr. Hirako assumed the position of Executive Officer responsible for the United States in 2012. In 2015, he served as a Senior Executive Officer of ANA and Executive Director of ANA HD overseeing finance and investor relations. He is not only well-versed in finance and investor relations but also has extensive international business experience, having served as Executive Officer of New York Branch. He became the CEO and President of ANA in 2017, served as Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of ANA HD from 2022, and has been serving as a Special Advisor to ANA HD and an External Member of Kyushu Electric Power‘s Board of Directors since 2024.
Audit and Supervisory Committee Member
Yoshiro Uchimura is a Member of Kyushu Electric Power's Board of Directors Audit & Supervisory Committee. He joined Kyushu Electric Power Company upon graduation from Kyushu University's Faculty of Economics in 1985. Although he was mainly involved in the Departments of Human Resources & Labor, Corporate planning, Marketing and Public relations, Mr. Uchimura also built up his career as a General Manager providing regional support. He served as General Manager of the Public Relations Department in 2016 and was made an Executive Officer and General Manager of the Saga Branch Office in 2018. He rose to the position of Managing Executive Officer and was appointed Director of the District Symbiosis Division in 2021. Mr. Uchimura advanced to Senior Managing Executive Officer in 2022 before taking up his post as an Audit & Supervisory Committee Member of the Board of Directors in 2024.
External Audit and Supervisory Committee Member
Yuji Oie is an outside director and Audit & Supervisory Committee Member of Kyushu Electric Power Co. He received his M.S. in Mathematical Engineering from Kyoto University in 1980 and his Ph.D. in Engineering in 1987, and was appointed President of Kyushu Institute of Technology and Information Technology in 2009, Director and Vice President in 2010, and President in 2016 (- 2022). He has served as a director and Audit & Supervisory Committee Member of Kyushu Electric Power Company since 2022.
External Audit and Supervisory Committee Member
Tomoka Sugihara is an attorney and an outside director and Audit & Supervisory Committee Member of Kyushu Electric Power Co. She completed her legal apprenticeship in 1999 and registered as an attorney in the same year.
She joined the law firm of Miura, Okuda & Iwamoto and became a partner in 2007, and served as the chair of the Fukuoka Bar Association and Labor Lawyers Committee in 2016(-2021). She has served as a director and Audit & Supervisory Committee Member of Kyushu Electric Power Company since 2022.
External Audit and Supervisory Committee Member
Yuka Shigetomi is as an outside director and Audit & Supervisory Committee Member of Kyushu Electric Power Company. She graduated from Kyushu University’s Faculty of Economics in 1993 and joined Showa-Ota Audit Corporation in the same year. After becoming a certified public accountant (CPA) in Japan in 1997, she transferred to the Hong Kong office of Ernst & Young (EY) in 1998.
Subsequently, she became an U.S. certified public accountant (USCPA) in 2001 and a Hong Kong CPA (practicing certificate) in 2007. Since 2018, she has been the head of assurance services for Japanese companies at EY Greater China, contributing to international business. In June 2024, she obtained an MBA from the University of Chicago and also assumed the role of an outside director at Kyushu Electric Power Company.
